Metallica have been working on their new album for some time now and until we hear anything resembling completion about it, we won’t have to wait much longer for a Metallica release – even if it isn’t exactly new stuff..
Well over a year ago, the band asked fans to send in any pictures, bootlegs, and anything else fans might have had pertaining to their first two albums, Kill ’em All and Ride the Lightning. It looks like they’ve gotten enough stuff, as reissued and remastered version of both albums will be out on April 15th to coincide with Record Store day. Both albums will become available in three different formats: CD, Vinyl and Deluxe Box set.
The deluxe box sets include original source material from the band’s personal collection with many never before heard or seen recordings along with books including rare photos and essays from those who were there. These will run for $150 but will include entirely different content. The Kill ‘Em All box set includes four vinyl records, five CDs, one DVD, a hardcover book including rare photos and a patch while the deluxe numbered box set of Ride the Lightning includes four vinyl records, six CDs, one DVD, a hardcover book including more of those unseen photos, a mini-book of lyrics handwritten by James Hetfield and a set of three posters.
You can get your preorders going now – and read about all the stuff that will be on the box sets – at their website here.
