The last we heard from Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington, he was pretty angry. In fact, he faced the possibility of losing O.G. Linkin Park fans forever after taking offense that some Hybrid Theory fans didn’t like the new direction of the band’s latest album, One More Light. He actually threatened physical violence towards anyone claiming the album was a marketing decision on the band’s part, saying “you can fucking meet me outside and I will punch you in your fucking mouth.” Today, via Twitter, while not addressing the backlash he’s gotten, the Manchester bombing outside an Ariana Grande concert appears to have mellowed him out quite a bit:
My heart goes out to the victims and families of those who lost their lives and were injured last night in Manchester.

As of today, my life’s purpose is one of love and understanding. The world needs to change and that change comes from within.

Hate, pride, vengeance, and fear are the plague of the earth. Love, kindness, compassion, empathy and service to others are the cure.

Let’s all choose to be a part of the cure.

What a difference a day makes. Granted, the kind of senseless violence that happened outside the concert yesterdayis enough to give anyone pause, and perhaps becoming known as the angry guy that wants to force people to like your music comes off as petty. Whether it’s the beating Bennington’s taking in the press or, more likely, the sad and senseless killing of children for your religion, the singer appears to have decided to lead by example.
