It’s been a few weeks since Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister’s passing, and while many have tried to pay tribute to the legend by shutting down an entire street in Hollywood or petitioning to name a new element after him, the newest one that’s actually caught on really fast was the renaming of the classic Jack and Coke to “The Lemmy.”
Food & Beverage Magazine has officially named the industry standard call-out drink of Jack & Coke to “The Lemmy.” The magazine posted the following regarding the announcement:
“We are honored to represent the industry and bring the moniker The Lemmy to every bar in the world!” exclaims Food and Beverage Magazine publisher Michael Politz. “Owning a rock club with ANTHRAX’s Scott Ian and ALICE IN CHAINS’ Jerry Cantrell gave me the chance to meet Lemmy and experience his legend myself.”
We’re sure many places will still call the drink a Jack and Coke but it’s still a nice symbolic gesture to have a renowned magazine in the food industry giving tribute to Lemmy. The only strange thing about this is the recipe they listed with the announcement, cause I haven’t seen a Jack and Coke mixed with bitters, shaken and/or strained but maybe they were trying to personalize a drink to make it a more specific mix. Either way, it is a nice thought.
