bring me the horizon 306 2015Most of the award ceremonies are boring and are basically a bunch of famed people patting each other’s back on how popular they are but yesterday, we reported about Bring Me The Horizon trashing Coldplay’s table at the NME award show in  in Brixton, south London. The whole scene was entertaining on its own and the reaction from Coldplay was priceless, but while many thought singer Oli Sykes did that in response to their beef with Coldplay, he claims that wasn’t the case.

Sykes denied that his actions where not intended as a retaliation, saying:

“I had no sound in my ears so I thought ‘Well, there might be sound out there.’ There weren’t sound out there, so when I came back there was a table, which I got on. There wasn’t any sound on there, but it was a bit more energetic up there. It was in no way a protest against COLDPLAY.”

Of course someone had to ask someone at Coldplay about the incident and NME took the chance and asked singer Chris Martin about what he thought about Sykes shenanigans, saying that that he never heard of BMTH before, but said the incident “was great — very rock ‘n’ roll.”

So there you have it. If Sykes intention was to get Coldplay’s attention after seemingly not caring about their performance at the event, he certainly made himself and his band noticed. We now have to wait and see if Sykes will lose sound next time he’s face to face with Martin and company. Technical difficulties can happen anytime, right?
