You would imagine a new band like Abbath’s Abbath would stay together for at least a year before seeing any sort of changes, but even the Norwegians are having troubles in paradise with their mysterious drummer ‘Creature’ announcing his departure from the band – and he wasn’t even Norwegian.

If you recall a while ago, Abbath announced their permanent lineup which included King ov Hell (King Ov Hell, Ex-Gorgoroth, God Seed) and a mysterious drummer simply called Creature. Seems like Creature was Irish drum machine Kevin Foley (Benighted, ex-Mumakil, ex-Disavowed) and he just announced his exit from the band:

“As a few of you might already know, I’ve been busy this year playing with the Norwegian band Abbath as a mysterious character called ‘Creature’ (Sorry to disappoint you if you thought it was the amazing Baard Koldstad! hehe). For some personal reasons, I’ve decided to leave the band. Still, it’s been a great experience and an honor to play all the band’s shows so far and record the upcoming album in Sweden with Daniel Bergstrand. I’m really happy with the result. I love the songs, the sound and I’m proud of my drumming on this one.

As for the near future, I will be touring for the last time ever with my brothers fromBenighted in January and February, opening for The Black Dahlia Murder all over Europe. It will be the best way possible to close a ten-amazing-years-long chapter of my life. These guys are my absolute best friends and I have no doubt that we’ll have a lot of fun on this tour! After that, it will be time for me to move on, look for new projects and do my best to keep making a living out of music. I’m looking forward to 2016!”

I’m sure it won’t take long to find a replacement considering all the tours Abbath has scheduled for 2016 in Europe and North America, aside from the fact that who wouldn’t want to play with Abbath and King ov Hell live. Abbath‘s self-titled debut album will be released on January 22nd. via Season of Mist
