In addition to embedding a YouTube video or BandCamp player, soon bands and labels will be able to use Twitter to sell merch and make offers directly to fans on their timeline, using the just-announced Buy Button.

In a statement from Twitter:

“An entire purchase can be completed in just a few taps. After tapping the “Buy” button, you will get additional product details and be prompted to enter your shipping and payment information. Once that’s entered and confirmed, your order information is sent to the merchant for delivery.”

The feature isn’t rolled out completely yet, but 28 Twitter accounts from artists, brands and non-profit organizations are part of the test group. Of those 28 three of them are hard rock/metal bands, with Megadeth, Soundgarden, and Beartooth among the likes of Brad Paisley, Home Depot and Pharrell. Twitter announced that Music Today, who specialize in direct-to-fan ecommerce, is one of the partners in this new feature roll-0ut.
