It’s hard to think of a band that’s more active in sporting events than Metallica. For the past few years, they’ve had annual “Metallica days” with the San Francisco Giants. Then in 2015, they started doing the same thing for the closest thing they have to a hometown hockey team, the San Jose Sharks. At the time, they probably had no idea that a little over a year later, their team would be playing for the Stanley Cup. However, before last night’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the band took the stage (well, James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett, anyway) to play the National Anthem. Check it out below.
Metallica were busy documenting the evening on their Instagram account as well.
And while Hetfield predicted a Sharks victory last night, that turned out to not be the case. The Penguins are up three games to one and could hoist the Cup if they win on Thursday.
