Slightly resembles the 'Lulu' cover, don't you think?

The Black Album made Metallica into household names, but also further saw them experimenting with a less complex and more accessible sound (though still heavier than most charting musicians at the time). However, when the band was in the studio twenty years ago recording this album, we doubt that they ever had this in mind.

Pop star Rihanna has supposedly samples bits of Metallica’s “Wherever I May Roam” on a new song called “Red Lipstick.” The song, which apparently also uses a sample of Chase and Status’ “Saxon,” will reportedly appear as a bonus track on Rihanna’s new album Talk That Talk. At the moment, audio of the song isn’t available online, but the album and its deluxe edition will be released on November 21.

This may not be the first time a song off of The Black Album has been sampled (even Kid Rock is guilty of that), but it’s still a bit odd to see Rihanna and Metallica in the same sentence. There are two things, though, that we know for sure: 1. We’d rather hear Rihanna sample any metal song instead of Ke$ha (and we know she’s a Metallica fan), and 2. The sample is probably going to turn out better than Lulu.
