This past weekend, rumors about one hell of a touring package made its way around the web. Mastodon and Opeth will supposedly be teaming up for a U.S. tour in April. As if that combo wasn’t enough to make fans geek out, Ghost has been mentioned as a likely opener for the tour.

If this tour does come to fruition, then it could be one of the strongest packages in 2012 so far. Both Mastodon and Opeth are always pushing boundaries in metal and evolving their own sound, as proven by both of their albums from this past Fall. So while each have their own unique sound, Mastodon and Opeth would definitely complement each other well onstage. And Ghost, who will be kicking off their first ever North American headlining tour this week, is the cherry on top of this metal sundae.

Unfortunately, though, no official confirmation has yet to come from any of the bands’ camps. But believe us when we say that we’re anxiously awaiting the official announcement for this tour.
