It’s the announcement fans of DevilDriver have been waiting for since they signed to Napalm Records. August 27 has been confirmed as the release date for DevilDriver’s new album, Winter Kills.

The album found DevilDriver once again working with Mark Lewis at Audio Hammer Studios in Florida, while vocals were handled at frontman Dez Fafara’s L.A. home studio. Fafara had the following to say about the group’s sixth studio album:

“This is by far DevilDriver’s most cohesive, powerful, groove laden record to date! We delivered our signature California Groove sound alongside a Raw and Biting guitar tone, mixed it with massive hooks, added in thunderous drums to rethink, and reshape another different sounding unique piece of Rock-N-Roll! Cutting our own path is something to be proud of. DevilDriver has always and will forever be about thinking outside the box and delivering on something different from record to record, we cannot be assimilated into any scene or even genre of Metal and we will continue to do things our own way with a massive middle finger in the air to the status quo!”

As an added bonus for fans, DevilDriver also revealed the cover artwork for Winter Kills (as seen above), a photograph by Dean Karr and layout done by Ryan Clark/Invisible Creature. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed, newly added bassist Chris Towning is expected to make his recording debut with the band on the album. Expect DevilDriver to announce U.S. touring plans for the fall and winter soon.
