Update: Slipknot removed the social media post announcing parting ways with drummer Jay Weinberg. However, the news currently remains on the band’s website. We can only assume this means more information is on its way, but it remains to be seen at this time. Weinberg has yet to make a statement, but he recently celebrated his recognition as Metal Drummer of the Year via the Modern Drummer readers’ poll.
Slipknot have announced parting ways with drummer Jay Weinberg. The announcement was made via social media earlier today (5th), making Weinberg’s final show with the band at the Hell & Heaven festival in Toluca, Mexico, on November 3.
The group issued the following statement:
“We would like to thank Jay Weinberg for his dedication and passion over the past ten years. No one can ever replace Joey Jordison’s original sound, style or energy, but Jay honored Joey’s parts and contributed to the last three albums and we, the band, and the fans appreciate it. But as ever, Slipknot is intent on evolving. The band has decided to make a creative decision, and to part ways with Jay. We wish Jay all the best and are very excited for what the future holds.”
