Kirk Hammett, lead guitarist for Metallica, will be putting out a new comic book series later this year with co-creator Marcel Feldmar. Currently titled ‘Nights Of Lono,’ Hammett will also be providing the foreword for an upcoming book to be published about Shudder’s adaptation of the ‘Creepshow’ franchise.
AMC Networks Publishing will be issuing both ‘Nights Of Lono‘ and the aforementioned coffee-table book, which is titled ‘Shudder’s Creepshow: From Script To Scream.’
The synopsis of Hammett and Feldmar’s comic book was shared via a press release:
‘Hammett and Feldmar’s Nights of Lono [working title] tells the story of a troubled female detective in 1989 Hawaii who is hired to find King Kamehameha’s tomb before it is discovered by an unscrupulous occultist from the mainland. A mix of mystery and supernatural adventure, the story is a self-aware journey through standard detective tropes and cliches that are sharpened and given new life with fresh takes on the myths and folklore of the Hawaiian Islands.’
‘Lono’ itself presumably refers to a god of the same name in Hawaiian mythology, known as the god of fertility, rainfall, agriculture and music.
