If you’re a musician, you’re probably aware of Toontrack (full disclosure, I’m a musician and I’m not quite sure what they do). At any rate, it’s Metal Month for the company, which creates recording tools for computer-literate musicians, including metalheads. And while that has tons of practical implications for those doing home recording, any fan of Devin Townsend can benefit from the company tonight. That’s because Devy will be creating and writing a new song from scratch – and livestreaming it!
It’s no surprise that Townsend works quick. Given that he records multiple albums a year, and his last album was a double album, we know that he’s pretty much incapable of taking a break. And he’s created with Toontrack in the past as well, so you know he’s got no problems working with the software. In fact, he’ll even be taking time throughout the two-hour livestream to answer questions sent in via social media. It should be fascinating to watch one of the most creative people in metal make a song as you watch. It will be streaming here from 8 to 10 tonight EST.
