Dave Grohl isn’t the only member of the Foo Fighters keeping busy outside of the band; drummer Taylor Hawkins has his side project The Birds of Satan, whose debut album is available for streaming. The seven track album spans many different sounds, from prog rock to speed metal. On the subject of the album’s sound, Hawkins says:

“It’s like a love letter to the music I love, a nod to everything, a homage sometimes.”

Indeed, the opening track “The Ballad of the Birds of Satan” shifts through different sounds in the span of nearly 10 minutes. It’s quite an interesting listen, and if you’re one for a diverse range of sounds then you’ll likely enjoy it. Oh, and of course Dave Grohl makes a guest appearance on the album.
