While we’ve known for a while now that Phil Anselmo, or Philip H. Anselmo as he’s referring to himself, would be coming out with his first solo album, now it’s got a release date. Walk Through Exits Only will be available on July 16th on Housecore Records via MRI/Megaforce. And sometimes you can judge a book by its cover. This looks more like a Phil Collins album cover than a Pantera one. Instead of someone getting punched in the face, this is a stark, raw picture of Phil. And if his album is anything like the two songs that were on his split EP with Warbeast (even though he says it’s not), this is going to be a stark, raw album. We’ll see what it sounds like soon enough. The band includes Warbeast drummer Joe Gonzalez and former Superjoint Ritual guitarist Marzi Montazeri, who was born in Iran, which helps explain why he’s calling the project Philip H. Anselmo & the Illegals.
