Parrot-fronted Hatebeak return with new track

Posted by on June 4, 2015

CD600G_outThere’s so much generic metal out there that it seems like some people are just parroting other bands. And then there’s Hatebeak, the grindcore band that’s actually fronted by an African Gray Parrot. It’s been more than eight years since they flew on to the scene, but they’re back with a new album, The Number of the Beak, and a single, “Seven Perches,” via Metal Injection. Waldo handles vocals, but there’s also help from Pig Destroyer’s Blake Harrison and Mark Sloan of The Index and Malvador on instruments and programming.

In addition to the amazing Iron Maiden-inspired cover,The Number of the Beak will also include six new songs as well as all of the band’s EPs from 2004-2007. Do you like birds and vinyl? Good news –  the album will also be released in several limited runs, including 300 of a “Bird Shit” black/white/clear mix.

The Number of the Beak will be released on June 26 on Reptilian Records, which doesn’t make sense. Maybe they should’ve signed with Avian Records. At any rate, it can be ordered here.
