mystic prophecy - war brigadeApril showers brought May showers here at Metal Insider HQ, but we’re not letting that rain on our parade. With new albums from Gojira, Hatebreed, DevilDriver, and many more coming soon, May is shaping up to be a great month. For now, let’s enjoy the new music coming out today!

Mystic Prophecy, War Brigade (Massacre)

Mystic Prophecy has always been on the edge of the mainstream power metal scene, maintaining a strong following in Europe but never quite reaching the international level of bands like Blind Guardian and Hammerfall. War Brigade is the band’s ninth full-length, and with it, the band hopes to break through to the next level with their unique blending of American, guitar-driven power metal and European melodies.

Vektor, Terminal Redux (Earache)

Originally hailing from Arizona and now based in Philadelphia, Vektor offers an intriguing mixture of progressive metal and thrash that is difficult to compare to anyone else. The easiest description would be to combine Voivod’s oldest material with their new stuff, and that would yield a sound similar to Vektor’s. Terminal Redux, the band’s third album, is also their first new material released in five years.

Polar, No Cure No Saviour (Prosthetic)

Polar is a post-hardcore outfit from the UK that mixes punk into their sound. Polar’s lyrical content deals mostly with personal struggles and growth, and those themes are reflected on this album, which is their third full-length. However, the group also takes advocacy very seriously when it comes to world issues. To that end, the group partnered with UK-based charity group Crisis to put on a series of shows in April, with proceeds from those shows going to benefit the homeless.
