Metallica’s Lars Ulrich is now a Danish Knight

Posted by on June 13, 2017

A DR report revealed Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich was recently awarded the Knight’s Cross in his native country Denmark on May 26th. Margrethe II, the Queen of Denmark, bestowed upon him the Knight’s Cross of Dannebrog Order. According to OMSD.dk, it was instituted by King Christian V in 1671 as a revival of a much older order instituted by King Valdemar Sejr after the battle of Lyndanisse (in Estonia) in 1219.

Ulrich follows in the footsteps of a handful of Danish celebrities including adventurer Troels Kløvedal, director Thomas Vinterberg, vocalist Anne Linnet and actors Sofie Gråbøl and Ghita Nørby, who previously received the Knight’s Cross.

Metallica will perform in Ulrich’s native country twice on their WorldWired Tour September 2nd at the Royal Arena and March 27th, 2018 at Jyske Bank Boxen.
