Well, we saw this coming. When Metallica announced their “Metallica by Request” tour this Summer, it was announced that they would be playing a set list selected by the audience – plus a new song. And with their world tour kicking off this Sunday in Bogota, Colombia, that means that they’ll be premiering a new song, presumably from their long-in-the-works forthcoming album. So while Colombian concertgoers are getting their iPhones ready to be the first to capture what Metallica’s 10th album sounds like (nope, not counting Lulu), even the band are getting excited, posting the following on their Facebook page:

It will be interesting to hear what the song sounds like. After Death Magnetic marked a return to the band’s roots and St. Anger pretty much confused the hell out of everyone, will the band be back to writing crowd-pleasers like their ’90s output? Did recording with Lou Reed bring out their pretentious side? And will the new song determine the overall sound of the next album? We’ll have to wait to find out, but as soon as the song gets posted in low quality shaky phone footage, we’ll have it up here for you to debate.
