If there’s one newsworthy source for music you can definitely count on, it’s German newspaper Bild, right? Well, probably not, but it is Germany’s top-selling paper. And for some reason, they seem to think they know when the next Metallica album is coming out. And hey, who knows, they could be right. So mark October 14th down in pencil in your calendar and hope for the best, because that’s when they say it will be out.
Granted, that hasn’t been confirmed by management or their label (which is, you know, the band’s own label, Blackened Recordings) yet. The band did say that the follow-up to Death Magnetic will be out sometime this year, which means that Bild has a one in 26 shot at being right. We also know the record’s done being recorded and being mixed by Greg Fidelman. We also know a little of what the new album will sound like, courtesy of “The Lords of Summer,” which came out several summers ago and you can listen to below. The newspaper doesn’t reveal their source, so this could all be hearsay, but for now, let the Metallica mania begin!
