It was pretty interesting earlier this month when we heard that God Forbid guitarist Doc Coyle was filling in for Mark Morton for the band’s tour. But a few more things happened in the last few days that have turned band lineup shifts into a full-on trend.
Maylene and the Sons of Disaster kicked off their tour with Lacuna Coil and All That Remains Tuesday without singer Dallas Taylor. Instead, He Is Legend vocalist Schuylar Dane filled in, which he’ll be doing for the entire tour. No real reason was given for Dallas’ decision to stay home.
Hey everybody this is Dallas. I just wanted to let everyone know I unfortunately will not be on the upcoming All That Remains tour. I am very excited to get back out on the road soon, however now is not the right time. We are very excited to announce our good friend Schulyar Dane, from the great band He Is Legend will be filling in on vocals. Please come out and support the guys, it’s going to be a great tour, and I hope to see you all on the road soon. Thanks for all the support.
What does that mean for He Is Legend, who just released their very solid album It Hates You? That’s a good question. If you believe Lambgoat, the band might have broken up. Citing “word on the street” doesn’t give them a ton of credibility, but hearing from someone close to the band that “they aren’t 100% done” makes it seem like they’re at least a pretty big percentage done. Stay tuned. Knowing what Schuylar sounds like, it should be a piece of cake for him to fill in for Dallas though.
Meanwhile, after kicking out their drummer in May, Chiodos have sacked singer Craig Owens as well. His last show with the band was on this Summer’s Warped Tour.
“To all of our friends, family, and fans: We would like to let you know that we have let Craig Owens go as the singer of Chiodos. This decision was a necessary one. Out of respect for all of the hard work that we have put in together for all of these years we will not be discussing the specific reasons that this needed to happen. We wish Craig well . We will absolutely be continuing on as a band and we will keep you informed as this next chapter unfolds. Chiodos fans are the best fans in the world and all we can ask of you, after everything you have already given us, is to share in our excitement for this next album. We promise you will not be disappointed…………Brad, Jason, Pat, and Matt”
Hmm. If they’re really looking for a singer, it doesn’t really seem like Dallas Taylor is doing anything for the next few months. Except for maybe jamming with Mark Morton…
