morganwrightI, The Breather drummer Morgan Wright has decided to part ways with the band after five years. He posted the following lengthy statement on his Facebook page earlier:

“For the past 5 years I’ve dedicated my time and energy into something I have loved so much. I pursued every opportunity with passion and never once took any one of them for granted. I started ITB in my basement with my best friend at the time Justin Huffman & Shawn Spann… Just the three of us jamming out & making music that we loved. It later evolved into what you know today as ” I the Breather.” ITB has been the best thing I have ever been a part of. It’s been a roller coaster ride, an unending thrill ride. Every member past and present; looking past all the hard times we faced I think of the good times we embraced together. As I write this letter of me stepping down from my current position as drummer of ITB. I thank you.

As for our fans, I have been truly spoiled and blessed to be so fortunate to have people who care about everything I/we did. It’s a humbling thing to know that something I started as an outlet to have fun… Turned into an inspiration to some. All the good times and crazy concerts I’ve shared with you I can hold onto that for the rest of my life.

There comes a time when you get burnt out doing something. You try and try to stay motivated and make things happen, but it doesn’t quite go according to plan. The reason behind me stepping down is: “I’m” simply burnt out. This band has created me to look at playing the drums as a task and an unwanted duty that I sometimes would dread to have to do. Something I love so dearly has now become so hard for me to sit down and feel motivated to do. It’s as simple as that. I shouldn’t feel burnt out about playing drums for thousands of kids and doing what I love. It shouldn’t be that way. Me leaving has nothing to do with the friendship & brotherhood I have with the members of this band. They’re the definition of brothers & have supported me in every way possible.

When God grants you with a gift he wants you to share it with the world. The world needs to know what you know! I believe I’ve done that with my drumming through ITB all over the world… I’m honored for getting the opportunity to do so. Thanks to EVERYONE at Sumerian records for believing and being so amazing to work with (Nick, Matt, Shawn, Ash, George, Dan, Mike, Randy)

Thanks to everyone in ITB past & present(Justin, Conor, Shawn, Chase, Jered,Armand)

My last show will be Sunday August 4th Intensity Music Festival See you all there!

We had a fun ride!

– Morgan Wright”
