Woland

Finnish band Woland describe themselves as “metal noir extraordinaire, but we just view it as solid post-black metal.” The band’s debut full length, Hyperion, was just released in February, and it’s an impressive debut. Listening to the multiple tempo and moods on the single “Conquer All,” spells out what the band views as an ambitious album without boundaries, and the album has appearances from members of Dimmu Borgir, Finntroll and Black Sun Aeon.

Oranssi Pazuzu

Finnish band Oranssi Bazuzu is a psychedelic black metal band that has been around since 2007, having released three albums. If you were won over by the genre-stretching post-rock that Nachtmystium put on their Black Meddle albums, you’ll definitely be interested in these guys. We wrote about their most recent album, Valonielu, when it was released stateside last year on 20 Buck Spin, and it’ll be fascinating to see how they pull if off live.

Deathhammer

Here are a few reasons as to why we like the straight-ahead blackened thrash of Deathhammer, taken solely from their Facebook page: 1) their interests include “metal, death, heavy drinking.”  2) their Facebook page has a description stating “Deathhammer formed in 2005 with the aim to spread evil metal in the name of the ancient gods… KILL THE FALSE.” Yep, we’re in. The music from the two-member band is fantastic too.
