Similar to nu metal, hair metal is a subgenre people either enjoy or immediately judge as the worst genre ever. People have argued that glam rock acts which started in the late seventies and went well into the eighties mainly appeal to those who grew up during this era, and are nothing more than nostalgia for a time that’s long gone. However, depending on how you look at it, it’s simply not the case.

Within the last five years, Kix, W.A.S.P., Whitesnake and many more “hair metal” bands including the forthcoming L.A. Guns album The Missing Peace arriving on October 13th via Frontiers, have released new material. For those hair metal haters out there, Consequence of Sound compiled a top ten list of albums that don’t suck. Now, we do agree, none of these suck, however, we believe the list could have been much longer, but it’s a decent start.

Check out their list below and see if you agree:

Mötley Crüe – Too Fast For Love, (1981)

Hanoi Rocks – Self Destruction Blues, (1982)

Quiet Riot – Metal Health, (1983)

W.A.S.P. – W.A.S.P., (1984)

Ratt – Out of the Cellar, (1984)

Kix – Midnite Dynamite, (1985)

CInderella  – Night Songs, (1986)

Def Leppard – Hysteria, (1987)

Faster Pussycat – Faster Pussycat, (1987)

L.A. Guns – Cocked and Loaded, (1989)
