We’ve known that Mastodon are working on their new album for a little while now, and thanks to the Instagram of the band’s Brent Hinds, now we’re getting a look into what’s going on with the recording of the album. Six days ago, he posted a shot of a road with the caption “Road to the studio is pretty.” He followed that up by posting an extremely unpretty photo of Troy Sanders’ mic windscreen covered with spit from his first vocal tracks. And earlier this morning, which is actually his birthday, Hinds posted a shot of Valient Thorr frontman Valient Himself doing some gang vocals.
While it’s not known how far along the band are in recording album number six, they probably wouldn’t be to the point where they’re recording gang vocals (or lead vocal for that matter) if they weren’t making some serious headway on the album. The band had said back in November that they were heading into the studio with Nick Raskulinecz, and with the holidays over, it looks like they’re wasting no time in finishing it up.
