Longtime hardcore band Shai Hulud have decided on the producer for their next album, and it’s a name that fans of the band will find familiar: former vocalist Chad Gilbert. A founding member of New Found Glory, he sang on Shai Hulud’s 1997 album Hearts Once Nourished With Hope and Compassion before leaving in favor to found NFG as a guitarist. Since then, he’s gone on to produce albums by the likes of A Day To Remember, Terror, Trapped Under Ice, and more.

“Matt Fox from Shai Hulud hit me up while on tour about potentially producing their new album,” Gilbert said in a statement. “I immediately thought it could be an interesting and fun team up but I really wanted to hear new demos before agreeing. He sent me a few new songs and I was pleasantly surprised! The songs were awesome and felt very classic; the melodic hardcore metal they are already admired for but taken to another level.”

Shai Hulud’s next record is due out on Metal Blade later this year. It wil be their first album since 2008’s Misanthropy Pure.
