There was a four year lapse between Clutch’s most recent album, last year’s Earth Rocker, and the one before that, Strange Cousins From the West. It doesn’t appear that it’s going to take that long for their next album. Yesterday, the band posted a short clip of them jamming on a riff on their Instagram page with the caption “First day of pre-production for the next record.” The four years they took in between albums was the longest they’ve gone without releasing an album, but to see they’re already making music just a little over a year that Earth Rocker was released is great news for Clutch fans, especially considering what a vital album it was. If you can’t wait until they actually release their next album, you can pick up their split 7″ with labelmates Lionize this Record Store Day. The band contribute a new song, “Run John Barleycorn, Run.”
