Last Tuesday, January 3, former Incantation bassist Joey “Fingers” Lombard passed away. At this moment, the cause of death is unknown, though services for Lombard were held this past Sunday, January 8. Lombard was 42 years old.
Incantation drummer Kyle Severn had the following to say about the passing of his former band mate:
“Joey was one of the nicest people you could ever meet…Joey had stepped up to the plate and joined John McEntee and myself back in 2000 to create some of Incantation’s finest blasphemy to date!!! He stuck with us for five-plus long years of writing and traveling the death metal roads!! He was an amazing musician and bass player. He had contributed more than most could imagine to the death metal scene. He had made many new friends through those years on the road; he was such a likable guy. I don’t think he had a mean bone in his body. He will be truly missed.”
Lombard played bass in the death metal band from 2001 to 2006 and appeared on three studio albums. Following his departure, Lombard lived in Windber, PA and worked for aerospace technology company Lockheed Martin. You can read his entire obituary online. Our condolences go out to Lombard’s family and friends.
