Some sad news today. Oliver Witheöft, the co-owner of Century Media Records, has passed away today according to a report from Billboard. He was 49. According to his fellow colleagues, Withör had started taking some time off after falling ill. It has not been specified yet as to what illness Withör succumbed to.
Many have come forward with words of remembrance regarding Withör. Says former North American label President Don Robertson:
“Century Media has been a force in music for over 25 years under Oliver’s leadership with his longtime friend and business partner Robert Kampf. It was an honor to work with Oliver for the past four years and develop a friendship.”

“Oliver was one of the kindest and most generous people I have ever met in the industry. He gave me my first label job at Century Media in 2001 and I am proud to have been his friend. I will never forget him.”
