Heavy Metal In Brooklyn: Acrassicauda’s Record Release Show This Tuesday

Posted by on March 5, 2010

Imagine living in a bombed out wasteland where you could be persecuted just because of how you look. But enough about Brooklyn. Actually, Iraqi refugees Acrassicauda have settled in the outer borough, and in advance of making their first-ever festival appearance at the Scion Rock Fest next Saturday, they’ll be playing a show this coming Tuesday, the release date of their debut EP, Only the Dead See the End of the War.

The band have literally come a long way since Iraq, when they were the subject of the awesome documentary, Heavy Metal in Baghdad. Back then, they were the  forced to write a pro-Sadaam Hussein song, and were even seen covering “The Final Countdown.” We saw them recently, and they were much improved not only from the band they were in the movie, but the band from a few months ago that we saw play their first show ever in America. If you’re in the New York area, you might wanna make it out for this one. Likewise if you’re in Columbus and going to the Scion Rock Fest next Saturday.

If you’re not in New York or Columbus and want to hear the album, go to their Myspace page.

You can also preorder the EP from iTunes here.
