The Sword’s third album, Warp Riders, is coming in a little over a month (August 24 to be exact). The band describes the forthcoming album as a “space opera meets post-apocalyptic western.” Now you”ll get a chance to make that call, based on the album’s first single, “Tres Brujas.” It’s available for free download at the below link, so check it out and let us know what you think.
There will be a video filmed for the song as part of a video trilogy that the Austin band will be filming in Los Angeles next week (with the other songs being “Lawless Lands” and “Night City.” We’re guessing that based on the album description, space will be involved in at least one of the videos. There’s been a run of metally space videos in the last year or so. Mastodon’s “Oblivion” was all about space exploration, and if the trailer of “The Final Frontier” is any indication, the next Iron Maiden video that comes out tomorrow should have similar themes. But hey, as long as the music’s good, we don’t care, and “Tres Brujas” (which according to our Spanish lessons, is Spanish for “three brujas”) is a solid first taste of the album.
