So on Sunday (30), Black Veil Brides singer Andy Biersack and his wife got detained by authorities following an altercation on a plane. That in and of itself is a little disconcerting, but why we’re writing about it is less about the fact that it happened and more about how it was covered by TMZ. Despite the band’s popularity with tweens and twenty-somethings and perennial status on the Warped Tour, Black Veil Brides are never mentioned by name in the article. It turns out that since April, Biersack has been married to Juliet Simms, who the article really focuses on.
Simms, who used to be in Automatic Loveletter, was on The Voice back in 2012, and was the runner up. Apparently Simms and her husband, who happens to front a popular hard rock band, were flying from Charlotte to LAX when the two began arguing in their first class seats. Apparently, Juliet got louder and wound up striking Biersack in the face. The two were calmed down until a few minutes later when they had to be separated and Simms eventually was handcuffed by an air marshal and the two were handed over to the FBI once the plane landed. Both Biersack and his far more popular wife claimed that it was Simms’ fault for drinking for the first time in several months, and they’re said to be cooperating with the investigation.
