We had a blast as the Food Truck and Rock Carnival festival last year. Even our ten year old correspondent had fun. However, not only is the NJ festival returning this year with a new location, but also with a massive farewell performance from Twisted Sister.
The second annual festival will take place at the FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood, NJ (after almost being in jeopardy of not returning at all) between September 30 to October 2. Twisted Sister’s headlining slot on October 1 will mark their final Tri-State area show before calling it quits. Other bands confirmed to play Rock Carnival include Overkill, Ace Frehley, Monster Magnet, Tom Keifer’s Cinderella, Dokken, Jester, American Angel, Fuel and Doro, with more bands to be announced soon.
“They wanted to say goodbye in the right setting and it was decided that they would play the Rock Carnival as one of their final farewells,” festival founder John D’Esposito told APP.com about locking in one of Twisted Sister’s final performances. D’Esposito also promised lots more amusements and food trucks for the family friendly festival, saying “These are our people who 10 to 15 years ago went out two, three times a week to see live music… They didn’t leave, they didn’t stop listening to music. We want to give them a weekend where they can totally experience rock ‘n’ roll, sustain it over three days with a variety of the music that it encompasses, and celebrate the music with a carnival.”
Weekend discount tickets for $95.99 go on sale tomorrow (May 13) at 10 a.m. online.
