In 2021, I had the pleasure of performing with Dragony at this newly re-christened festival in the beautiful medieval town of Moravsky Krumlov, in one of the very few summer festivals that could even take place in Europe due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, Rock Castle festival is set to return in August, and the lineup reads just as impressive as it did for last year’s edition. The festival will be headlined by none other than Edguy mastermind Tobias Sammet’s legendary rock opera project Avantasia, which regularly features an insane cast of legendary vocalists both on their studio albums and live shows. From Michael Kiske to Jorn Lande to Mr. Big’s Eric Martin, Ronnie Atkins (Pretty Maids), Bob Catley (Magnum), and even the late, great Andre Matos (Angra, Shaman). A live performance with guests of this caliber is always a sight to behold, and Avantasia will certainly not disappoint.

Apart from the festival headliner, several other fantastic acts have already been confirmed for the three-day event on August 18 – 20th. German crossover rockers Guano Apes, who will be looking to make up for their cancelled performance from 2021, as well as epic Greece symphonic death metallers Sceptiflesh, their countrymen of Firewind, spearheaded by former Ozzy guitarist Gus G., the aforementioned Eric Martin with a solo show, and Peter Tägtgren’s Pain.

Ticket are available for around 65-70 EUR for the three days festival pass and can be purchased here
