“We were supposed to do this two years ago,” Randy Blythe noted early from the stage while urging the crowd not to stage-dive as he usually does these days. After his well-publicized trial in the Czech Republic and tons of cancelled dates in its wake, Lamb of God’s arrival at Heavy Montreal was a sweet comeback performance for an audience that was roughly the same size on Sunday (about 35,000) as both days of last year’s fest combined. They wasted no time in decimating a huge, eager audience; in fact, only the likes of Slayer could have followed this kind of ferocity at full strength without being blown off the stage. It was a true full-circle moment, and certainly one fans will remember for years to come.
