Soundwave poster with Hole still billed

Australia’s Soundwave Festival brings a lot of rock, metal, and punk bands together on the same bill. However, apparently Courtney Love wasn’t all too pleased to find out who her band Hole was being billed under in the 2012 lineup.

Hole have reportedly pulled out of this coming year’s Soundwave Festival after finding out that they were being billed underneath Limp Bizkit. Before you ask “Wait, is it 1999?,” no, it’s 2011 and apparently Hole and Limp Bizkit are still festival grabs. Ms. Love let her displeasure be known via her Twitter account, directly messaging festival organizer AJ Maddah the following:

“What bloody flight of crazed fancy made you think we’d open for Limp Bizkit dude? No offence, that’s nuts.”

While Fred Durst nor Limp Bizkit have yet to respond towards Love’s actions, Maddah has and he’s making it clear that he isn’t pleased by the last minute pull out. In a series of tweets made Sunday (October 16), Maddah said the following:

“tbh, I am really mad about this. I was given so many assurances that this would not happen when I took the booking.

No point talking her back, only for her to cancel later, or turn up & act like a rotten twat to other artists, fans, etc.”

Maddah then posted the following jab yesterday (October 18):

“if II had to keep tabs on all the people CL fueds with, I wouldn’t have time to do anything else”

To be fair, Hole isn’t the first band to be upset about being billed underneath Limp Bizkit. Back in 2009, Machine Head had actually pulled out of the UK’s Sonisphere after learning that Fred Durst and posse had been billed higher than them. However, Machine Head returned to the bill as “surprise special guests” at the exact set time they were originally scheduled. This also isn’t the first time AJ Maddah has gotten into heated words with a band pulling out of the festival at the last minute. Just last year, Maddah had blamed Avenged Sevenfold’s unwillingness to perform certain slots as for their cancelations, while the band’s manager shifted the blame on the organizer.

In addition to Limp Bizkit, bands confirmed to perform at the 2012 Soundwave Festival so far include Slipknot, System Of A Down, Marilyn Manson, Machine Head, Lamb Of God, Coal Chamber, Mastodon, Trivium, Meshuggah, A Day To Remember, and many others, with more still to be announced. We repeat: it is not 1999. Check out the festival’s official website for more information about the lineup and dates (in case you just so happen to be in Australia in late February/ early March).
