Yesterday, it was revealed that drummer (and Howard Stern contributor) Richard Christy’s band had been added to the lineup of Metallica’s Orion Music & More festival. While the festival has yet to release a statement about the new addition, we reached out to Christy himself to get his reaction on getting added to Orion’s lineup.

Christy shared the following with us:

“To say that I’m beyond psyched would be to understate the situation! I was planning on attending the Orion Music & More fest as a fan, and yesterday I found out that Charred Walls Of The Damned has been invited by Metallica to play at the fest! WOW!!! To think that Metallica even knows who the heck Charred Walls Of The Damned is blows my mind! I’ve been a Metallica fan since I was 12 years old so this is an absolute honor! I can’t wait to rip it up with Charred Walls Of The Damned in Atlantic City and I can’t wait to see all of the other amazing bands there too!!”

We’re also excited about the addition of Charred Walls Of The Damned. For one, it shows that Metallica is continuing to add heavier acts to Orion’s lineup (which already includes Avenged Sevenfold, Suicidal Tendencies, Sepultura, Torche, The Sword, Red Fang and many others) . But more importantly, we’re just happy to see a band like Charred Walls Of The Damned (which also features Tim “Ripper” Owens) getting shown some well deserved love.
