“Drummer Of Tomorrow” Contest Launches Online

Posted by on June 16, 2011

A new competition is searching for the “Drummer Of Tomorrow,” and is giving players the chance to win prizes and drum gear.  Drummers can film a solo or play-along performance and upload their video to the contest’s website for the chance to win drum sets from Mapex Drums, cymbals from Zildjian, drumheads from Remo, drum sticks from Vic Firth and songbooks from Alfred Music Publishing. And if that wasn’t enough, Mapex Drums is sweetening the deal by offering the top winner an artist endorsement contract and a place on their official artist roaster.

Drummers have until July 31 to submit their video. From there, contestants will be judged by website voters, as well as a panel of drum industry professionals and artists from the Mapex roster. The rest of the contest is broken down into elimination rounds, with contestants being flown to various locales, including  a studio in Nashville, Tennessee, the 2012 Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, California, and the 2012 Musikmesse show in Germany.

Personally, we’re hoping that one particular drummer submits a video in the contest. Go to the website for “Drummer Of Tomorrow” for more details about submitting a video as well as to take a look at the contestants so far.
