Orgy Guitarist and keyboardist Ashburn Miller has parted ways with the band, according to a statement he posted on Orgy’s official Facebook page today. The former member of Deadsy says there are no hard feelings towards Orgy and that everything is copacetic. The band went on to say that Miller was even classy enough to train his replacement so as not to leave the band “high and dry.” Miller says he will still influence the band creatively and Orgy also responded with a comment on the band’s conceptual nature. Miller’s message read:
over the past few months I’ve come to a tough decision to step away from Orgy to focus on production/engineering with new acts and the amount of energy I put into things I work on it wouldn’t be fair to Orgy to have one foot in and that just isn’t how I work unfortunately. There’s nothing negative here, the guys understand and know that I will always be in their lives creatively, as well as personally and there is nothing but love for everyone of them as well as all of you that I’ve met out there on the road during my amazing time with the guys. I wasn’t going to say anything and just kind of disappear into space but you’ve all been so supportive of this new lineup and what we are trying to accomplish out there that I felt like at least if nothing else saying THANK YOU!!!! Obviously I’ll continue writing music and who knows where it all ends up in the future. I don’t pretend to know But right now I just wanted to make sure to say Thank you!! and wish nothing but great things for the band as well as you amazing fans out there.
Sincerely,
thank you
Ashburn.
Orgy responded with equal respect to his decision via comments on the post.
Ashburn is and will always be family!! He has brought a replacement player that looks great, plays great and sings his butt off, so he has not run off and left the band high and dry. He has been working with the new member for some time teaching him all his parts etc. Ash has tons of class!!
ORGY is a musical concept that’s why it was named ORGY!!
While Orgy haven’t released a studio album in almost ten years, they recently stepped into the limelight with their launch of a crowdfunding campaign to produce new material. With fans and critics chiming in on the plea, the band so far has fallen significantly short of the $100,000 goal they’re hoping to achieve in less than three days. They’re not reacting well to cricitcism, either assuring “childish haters” that the new music will “speak for itself” in the end. Orgy gave fans a tease of things to come, releasing a single in 2012.
