Big Jay Oakerson

Since we share office space with sister site The Laugh Button, we hear a lot of comedy and talk about comedy. And hell, there’s plenty of crossover with metal and comedy already. Just last week we hung out with Red Fang on their podcast. There are a lot of metalheads that like comedy as well, like Big jay Oakerson. The guy’s been on tour opening for Korn, and also spent a summer MCing the Mayhem Festival. Recently, it was his birthday, and that was the subject of his Legion of Skanks podcast, which he co-hosts with Dave Smith and Luis J Gomez. 

A handful of comedians stopped by the podcast for his birthday, including Impractical Jokers‘ Sal Vulcano, Ron Bennington, Kris Tinkle and Ari Shaffir. Shaffir often makes fun of Oakerson’s taste in music, specifically Avenged Sevenfold. Although Oakerson said he’s not even that big of a fan of theirs, Shaffir gave him a gift-wrapped box saying it was a pre-release of some new Avenged Sevenfold music. While most fans know that they just put out an album, and Jay knew that it probably wasn’t a CD in the box, he played along. What was in the box? Well, let’s just say that whether you like Avenged Sevenfold or not, it was a shitty gift. You can hear everything go down at about the 1:30 mark below, and see the after-effects in the below video.
