1. Black
There’s no way we could even have a list like this without Black topping it. It’s the color of metal first and foremost. Not just from an aesthetic standpoint, but the fact that the first metal band ever, Black Sabbath, had it in their name. Since then, there have been many other bands with Black in their title (Black Tusk, the Black Dahlia Murder, and Black ‘N Blue come to mind. We’ll even give you Black Veil Brides – no, seriously take them). Metallica’s biggest-selling album was The Black Album, Testament had Souls of Black, and bringing it full circle, even Ozzy had Black Rain. And when you think of a typical metalhead, they’re not wearing a green metal shirt, that’s for sure.
