2. Black Sabbath (self-titled debut, Paranoid, Master Of Reality)
We’ve already gone into great detail about why Sabbath’s self-titled debut is a landmark album (we even gave you five reasons why). However, it’s without question that the group secured its place in rock history with its sophomore album Paranoid, which boasted classics like “Iron Man,” “War Pigs” and the title track (just to name a few). Then just six months after releasing Paranoid, Sabbath released Master Of Reality, boasting such Sabbath standards as “Children Of The Grave” and “Sweat Leaf.” It’s rare enough for bands to release three album’s worth of classics in a row, let alone within the timeframe of a year and a half (a sign of the times).
