Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with The Wring’s Don Dewulf as he’s been spending this time writing music.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

Same as I ever do. Play guitar, write songs, and spend time with my wife & kid.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

At the risk of dating myself… I have recently rediscovered the mysterious appeal of vinyl. I set myself up with a turntable and have been scouring the internet for sellers of used LPs. I gave away 500 albums when CDs came out so I am revisiting that period in my life, replacing those albums. Michael Schenker’s first 4 solo records Rush from the 70s and 80s, Ozzy with Randy many more. Awesome.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

I’ll never be bored enough to make my own bread… Too many books yet to read, songs to write, and keeping up with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays, of course.

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

Just finished bingeing out Dickens – Oliver Twist, Tale of Two Cities, Great Expectations. Great stuff. Next up is Nergal’s biography. My wife and I watched Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad.  BCS was better.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

Stay fit. Play music. Read books. Avoid the temptation of substances.
