Posted by on July 11, 2022

Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s pandemic column during the ongoing uncertainty behind COVID-19. We ask artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy during these unprecedented times. We caught up with the recently signed with Stormbound as he’s been spending this time studying, working and teaching.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?
Yuval Partush (drums): Practicing my chops obviously
Yael Horwitz (vocals): Preparing for my university exams
Shani Friedman (guitar): Playing guitar, Writing music
Ofer Friedman (guitar & vocals): Worked my ass off teaching music online.
Rotem Sadia (keyboard): I’m in the field of medicine so I worked normally but from home.
Pavel Kleiman (bass): Part working from home, part drunk.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?
Ofer Friedman (guitar & vocals): The only playlist I created on Spotify is a classical music one…
Shani Friedman (guitar): I let spotify do the magic
Yael Horwitz (vocals): I have a YT playlist with all my favorite singers. The big two are Freddie Mercury and Floor Jansen.
Pavel Kleiman (bass): The only thing I heard at that time was my baby daughter that was just born.
Rotem Sadia (keyboard): Same here.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking, including making their own bread. What food have you been preparing during this time?
Shani Friedman (guitar): I actually made bread, pizza and some other cool stuff.
Ofer Friedman (guitar & vocals): As her spouse, I can confirm that the quarantine was the best culinary time of my life. Shani is the best vegan chef (We’ve both been vegan for a little more than 10 years). We ate well, exercised a lot and so on.

Yuval Partush (drums): I lost 20 KG. I started working out and learned to cook healthy stuff such as bread, rice and so on.
Yael Horwitz (vocals):  I never cook, I’m terrible at it.
Rotem Sadia (keyboard): Chilli Con Carne
Pavel Kleiman (bass): I learnt how to cook traditional Bukaran food, which is something I really like even though I’m not from there and neither is my family. My speciality is Pilaf.

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?
Yael Horwitz (vocals): I was a student, so that kept me very busy.
Pavel Kleiman (bass): I’ve got three kids, quarantine was no vacation for me
Shani Friedman (guitar): I was practicing guitar.
Ofer Friedman (guitar & vocals): I tried to get the first movement of “Moonlight Sonata” by Beethoven on the piano, but to no avail. I never watch any TV or Netflix…
Rotem Sadia (keyboard): My daughter was born during the lockdowns, that kept me pretty occupied along with working from home.
Yuval Partush (drums): I was a soldier back then, No time for entertainment.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?
Yuval Partush (drums): Workout, play an instrument
Yael Horwitz (vocals):  Listen to StormbounD
Shani Friedman (guitar): Practice your instrument, learn to cook
Ofer Friedman (guitar & vocals): The best daily routine – Work out, practice an instrument and then have a beer or something.
Pavel Kleiman (bass): Or go straight to the beer part.
Rotem Sadia (keyboard): Listen to good music I guess
