Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Maudiir as he’s been spending this time working on new music.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

I’ve been writing and recording the new Maudiir EP “La Part du Diable.” As I write and record everything alone, I was lucky enough to be able to continue working on the project all over 2020.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

I’ve been listening to a lot of the most recent Obsequiae album “The Palms of Sorrowed Kings,” a great album with an original sound. I’ve also been enjoying the first Memento Mori album “Rhymes of Lunacy,” a band from the ’90s that I think should have gotten more recognition. I’m always listening to a lot of different stuff, be it metal or bands like The Tragically Hip, Rush, Neil Young. Gotta have some diversity.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

I’ve been eating a lot of human flesh to keep my soul black.

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

The Queen’s Gambit was an awesome series, I really enjoyed that. The most recent season of Crown was great also. For books, I’ve been reading the Whole Dune series from Frank Herbert; complex and ambitious. Looking forward to the movie by Denis Villeneuve.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

Find something creative to do. Exercise is a must, get some fresh air. Video games and the internet kill your brain.
