Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s pandemic column during the ongoing uncertainty behind COVID-19. We ask artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy during these unprecedented times. We caught up with Lynx drummer Flash as he’s been spending this time to sit down and practice.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

During the quarantine periods, I found it was best to sit down and practice. The time allowed me to learn some new beats, work on my timing, and refine the Lÿnx sound on drums. It kept me active as well as it’s very energy-consuming sitting down on a drum kit for hours on end.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

Lately, I have been listening to a lot of music outside of the genre I play. Everything from Hip Hops Nipsey Hussle to Heavy Metals Jinjer and Slipknot. Even throwing in a bit of country into the mix with Teddy Swims. I like to have a wide variety of music to listen to spark new ideas and influences. This allows me to be more creative when rocking out with Lÿnx.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking, including making their own bread. What food have you been prepping during this time?

Nutrition is very important in my life and really helps with stamina behind the kit. I have been prepping a lot of my own meals that are high protein like steak and chicken. It’s fun to go off-set recipes but I like to be more creative and add in my own spices and flavors to different dishes. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t but it’s a fun process either way.

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

Well, I’m a big nerd when it comes to books, games, movies, and TV. Sit me down with a good Marvel or DC movie. Also shows like American Gods and The Boys are always good fun. When it comes to books it’s either comic books or self-help reading depending on my mood. It’s always to work on yourself, especially during these trying times.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

My advice is to find something you are passionate about and let it consume you. It may take a while but something is in there that brings you happiness. Word hard and manifest the life you want. Use the isolation time to try, fail and try again, things will work out if you have a positive attitude. Some days are harder than others but that is part of the journey we call life.
