Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.

Nothing changes on New Year’s Day, so say U2. Such lyrics are true in many ways, but are particularly fitting for record sales. The only real big debut at the end of 2013 was After The Burial, but we’re obviously not bogged down with tons of debuts…yet. I like to check the 2014 in metal Wikipedia page (though its not always accurate) to get an idea of what there is to look forward to. Soon we’ll have releases from Iced Earth, Periphery, Cynic, and more. Looks like we’re going to have another fine year in metal. So enjoy more metals and numbers and snide comments and thanks for checking this column out every week.

Notable Sales:

Five Finger Death Punch, The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell Vol. 2 (Prospect Park) #28, 19,025 sold

A Day To Remember, Common Courtesy (Self-Released) #36, 16,650
