Hailing from the depths of Detroit, Temple of Void are nothing if not a product of their environment. Although it’s a debut record, Of Terror and the Supernatural sounds like a band that’s been dropping its crushing hammer on listeners for the last 20 years. It’s no surprise, either, when you take into account the people involved; members of Acid Witch and Hellmouth joined together to bring this beast to life. Check out the video for “Savage Howl” below to get a feel for what this band is all about: Crushing doom metal passages with just a touch of tremolo-picked blackened fury, guttural vocals not unlike Seth of Septicflesh’s terrifying bellow, all centered around the mid-paced bludgeoning of a Tampa-style 90’s death metal act. This is bleak music, to be sure, as indicated by the grim, Lovecraftian artwork and song titles. (“To Carry This Corpse Evermore” should say it all, really) In their own words, Temple of Void destroys all.
