Trent Reznor announced late last week that he’d be scoring the soundtrack for the upcoming American film version of Stieg Larsson’s novel The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. It’s really hard to think of a better choice for the film, which is shooting now. Reznor and collaborator Atticus Ross worked with Dragon director David Fincher on the soundtrack for The Social Network, which they recently picked up a Grammy nomination for. The centerpiece of the Millennium trilogy is Lisbeth Salander, a bisexual tattooed hacker with a dark side. A tense crime drama featuring technology and sexual violence is a perfect backdrop for the soundscapes of Reznor and Ross, who will presumably be working again with Trent. And lastly, look at the picture of Lisbeth (as portrayed by Noomi Rapace in the 2009 Swedish version of the film). If that doesn’t look like Trent Reznor circa 1990 (or any NIN fan from then until now), i don’t know what does.
