Yesterday, Marvel unleashed the first trailer for The Avengers. While fans gasped at the sight of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Bruce Banner (aka the Hulk) in the same room, some may have heard something very familiar. To be more specific, Nine Inch Nails’ “We’re In This Together” can be heard in the film’s first trailer.

At first, the song choice seems a bit random (besides its fitting title) for the film, mainly because The Fragile (which this song appears on) came out in 1999. On the other hand, this isn’t the first time Marvel used a heavier/obscure song in a trailer. This also isn’t the first time a NIN song was used in a Hollywood Blockbuster. Plus, as Metal Sucks points out, with all the buzz that Trent Reznor has been getting for his movie scores as of late (including winning some sort of movie award) makes using a NIN song an even better idea.

And when all is said and done, the trailer looks awesome and the song fits really well in it. Check it out yourself in the video above. The Avengers comes out in theaters on May 4, 2012.
